The Umpqua River has two primary tributaries, the North Fork, and the South Fork, which merge near the town of Roseburg, Oregon in Douglas County. The Umpqua forks start high in the Cascade Mountain range, flowing down 111 miles through western central Oregon, through the town of Elkton, and finally emptying into the Pacific Ocean near Reedsport, Oregon.

The Umpqua river provides one of the strongest wild winter steelhead fisheries on the west coast. You can find plenty of fish in the Umpqua river year round. Winter steelhead starting in early December and ending in late April, jumping right into spring chinook and summer steelhead at the beginning of May through the middle of summer until the end of July, and continuing fall chinook and coho season in August until late November.
