The Alsea River begins at the confluence at the North Fork Alsea River and the South Fork Alsea River in the small unincorporated community of Alsea in Benton County, Oregon. It winds 48 miles west through the coastal mountains of Oregon, and emptying into the Pacific Ocean at the Alsea Bay in Waldport Oregon.

The Alsea is quaint and well rounded river for steelhead and salmon. Fishing for winter steelhead in the winter and early spring, and chinook and coho in the midst of fall. The Alsea river season starts off with chinook and coho in September and fishes well into late November. After salmon season ends, a quick turn around right into winter steelhead season starts December and goes well into spring ending in April.
